Mostly Bach

For the last lap of the season, our previously scheduled concert with Fantazy Suites to the organ by Jenkins and Lawes has been fabulously supplanted (for logistical reasons) by music by this year’s composer-hero, Johann Sebastian Bach, played by 3 local icons, Judith Linsenberg (recorders), William Skeen (‘cello and viola da gamba) and Yuko Tanaka (harpsichord). The Fantazy -suite program will be re-energized next season!
We’re very fortunate to have had quite a bit of Bach this year already, but this program will really ice the cake. We’ll let you know the full program as soon as we can, but for now here are some BWV numbers for those of you who like to toss such things around nonchalantly (we know who you are): 1009, 1017, 1028, 1030, 1035, and, intriguingly, BuxWV 235. The “original” instrumentations and keys have, of course, been sacrificed on the altar of fun, a practice Bach frequently followed, but the full program will give you the details for your full musicological records, should you need them.
