SHIRA KAMMEN and PATRICK BALL:
The Drowning of the City of Ys and other Tales
Shira Kammen, the Bay Area’s own singer, violinist, harpist, viellist, and virtuosa of way more instruments than we have space to list, and Patrick Ball, storyteller extraordinaire, combine to bring Breton legends, and other stories to life.
This is more than a concert, it is an entertainment in the grand sense. Shira Kammen has been creating stories with her bow on the strings for many years, and Patrick Ball famously has an ear for the melodies hidden within every good story. The story of the Drowning of the City of Ys is Breton, but the program will be in English, and a working knowledge of Cornish, Welsh, Breton and Medieval English is not required.
The performance, at the lovely Hillside Swedenborgian Community Church, will start at 6 pm, and sunset will be at around 6.40 over Mount Tamalpais. The view is stunning, and the performance will quite literally draw you in. Music and song that takes you way beyond the bounds of chamber music as we know it.
The usual light refreshments will be served. To order tickets, go to: www.BrownPaperTickets.com/Event/264697
