Julie Jeffrey and Lynn Tetenbaum, viols
“Gambenfreude!” – German Viol Duos
Yes, even the Germans had viol music. They even had fine native violists, such as Schenck (ok, he was originally Dutch) and Kühnel, and the francophilic German composers like Telemann wrote lovely music for viol. Local stars Julie Jeffrey and Lynn Tetenbaum will play a program showing off the many moods of the German viol duo, from the kaliedoscopic miniatures of Schenck and Kühnel to the classic high-baroque elegance of Telemann, with a surprise mystery composer you won’t be expecting.
