Faire Violls & Corey Carleton: “ByrdSong”
Consort Songs and Fantasies by William Byrd

William Byrd, the “Father of English Music,” not only composed some of the greatest Renaissance sacred choral music, but also created a body of innovative and gorgeous chamber music for viols, including many consort songs. Faire Violls’ program features gems from these instrumental works, among the first pieces to be written idiomatically for viols, and consort songs that have become justly famous as cornerstones of the repertoire.
